Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back

Jack Reacher, a skull-cracking soldier, and former army investigator is on a mission to unveil the mysterious secret behind a major conspiracy involving the government.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back is filmed on the storyline of Lee Child’s novel carrying the same name. It is a sequel, after a break of 4 years, to the Jack Reacher released in 2012. It features Jack Reacher and a female Major in the Army who has been conspired against and accused of spying.

This is a piece of typical American thriller action. Director Edward Zwick paired with Richard Wenk and Marshall Herskovitz to write the story. The movie’s shooting began on 20 October 2015 and it has been released exactly 1 year, 1 day later on 21 October 2016. Reacher is a loner, not-so-talkative fellow involved in his mysterious life. With many mixed reviews, Jack Reacher has been dominantly rejected by the audience. It, however, managed an average $60 million as a Tom Cruise starrer. The sequel fails to carry the legacy of the first part and is a disappointment.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Starcast:

Tom Cruise, known for his versatility and excellence in no matter what role he plays, is seen a bit less engrossed as usual playing Jack Reacher. Despite playing an excellent investigator in the Mission Impossible franchise, he comes out average in this role. Tom Cruise fans would be upset with his not up to the mark acting and involvement in the role. Tom is known for well – executed roles and competent acting. But maybe, either the storyline or the screenplay has dampened his acting in the film. To cut to the chase, Tom just doesn’t fit in the role of this badass investigator.

On the other hand, Cobie Smulders totally justifies her role of Susan Turner involving physicality and fighting scenes. She has been a beauty in executing her stunt scenes and develops a beautiful chemistry with her counterpart Tom Cruise. Danika Yarosh’s roleplay as Samantha Dayton is appreciated by the critics and welcomed by the audience. Rest of the cast has performed satisfactorily.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back Movie Review:

The movie has come out as one of the few Tom Cruise starrers proving to be a big disappointment. The critics have gone hard on the film with no rating above 7. It has been described as a monotonous story with zero attractions. Especially, in comparison to the prequel, this part is dull and forgettable. The film had to fulfill high expectations as one has from a Tom Cruise starrer, but the reviews suggest that it failed miserably to go the distance. There is nothing horrible about this film, yet it is a failure in involving the audience. The film is filled with gunshots and huge fights and becomes too much at a point of time. The audience, however, has shown a good welcome to the movie. The critics have reviewed the movie harshly and Tom Cruise fans have no matter what loved the movie.
